I can't upload a students whole trailer as both students names and images are in them, but I did take my Oscar role out for you to see below. Of course, I play the bad guy who is back to reek havoc on the world. Roll out the red Carpet....

![]() Student's in the language arts classes made movie trailers for books they had been reading. This was a twist on the traditional book report. Students used flip cameras, iMovie and of course staff to make trailers for the movie version of the book they had just read. I have seen at least 15 (they love to show these 3 minute mini-films) and was even asked to be in a few. Clearly the kids love taking what they have learned from a book and creating and building trailers around the main themes, characters and settings. I love this idea. Not only a great way to use technology in class to engage students. But it gives students an opportunity to move around, be creative and really show what they know about the book they read. Some students in my class recently used xtranormal.com to create conversations where two characters explained the theme of a book they were reading.

This is interesting! It does take the oridinary writing a book report away and allows the students to really put themselves in the eyes of the character. This would help students who are fearful of writing and give them the opportunity to summarize the story in a different way. I think that the students would probably benefit more from this because it forces them to think outside the box. Plus, as a class, the students could hold their own version of the Emmy's or Oscar's and vote on the best trailer.

This is a great idea I know as a student I was given the opportunity to create a video instead of a book report and I feel I took more away from in. I myself loved making the video and as we worked as a team there was many perspectives. I also feel I learned more from the collaboration as others in the group focused on things I did not. I feel this gave us more exposure to the same text and really had us engaged through the whole process.

This is a great idea! I would love to have done this as a student. I think students would really enjoy this. You could do this in any classroom.

Wow its amazing to see how far technology has come. Just a few years ago a short video like this would have taken a team of editors, several cameras, professional sound editors and a ton of money, Bravo!

Creative makings like this should be promoted more. I like the idea involved in making the trailers for it is fresh and creative and lot of efforts have gone into it. Keep up your good work and hope for more.Thank you!
