Travis Armstrong from Dublin wrote this post. My comments will appear in red. To read my first post on Kahoot from last school year click here! Garth and I had talked last week about how we can get even more interaction between our students. Ya, the students get to see each other on a daily basis and help one another as an additional resource but what else can we include to enhance the experience? |
Now, Travis mentioned the slight advantage his school had. It seems the skpye/kahoot relay 130 miles away was just a split second behind. My students felt they were being "cheated"--- Kinda like being mad it takes a second to download a webpage from England, right? The only real problem, we experienced other then lag, was the sound. My student's did not mention it, but I missed the Kahoot music. We think we fixed it for next time.
So, here is what you need to make this work:
1. Data Projector (two if you want to see the other student's and play--one if you only want to play: Note the one image above, we played one game without a projector. Students read the questions off a desktop--not the best option, but it worked.)
2. Skpye accounts for both teachers (google hanouts/meeting.io/anymeeting-as long as it has screen sharing)--and know how to share your screen (Person who pulls up and runs Kahoot shares their screen)
3. A common Kahoot topic (@Kahoot do you have a way to allow teachers to build a common Kahoot over distance?)
4. Some type of web device for student's (laptop, cells, etc..)
5. A willingness to try something new.
Give it a shot and let both Travis and I know how it goes for you:).
