We have done podcasts for about 7 years with kids, but this year we turned in our Mac books for chromebooks.  I was unsure how to record and save a podcast with the chromebooks, so I turned to my PLN.  Someone on twitter mentioned I should check out Mic Note.  I am glad I did. 

Mic Note is a chromes store add on for google chrome (works on Macs/PC if running chrome) and allows for easy podcasting and exporting to your drive (as an Mp3).  It also is a great note taking software for meetings or class where you can use the build in note taker to time important points in the discussion.  

In a few days, I will post a few student examples for you to hear.  In the mean time, here is a tutorial I made for my students to help them get started.  Let me know how you use Mic Note on your chromebooks with your student's.  

Travis: Each year we have a few students ask if they can do a Minecraft project for one or more of their Middle Age blog posts. This year I have had an influx of students asking if they could do a Minecraft project, some of the students are using their phones, some are using an iPad at school to work on it while others are spending hours working on their mine craft projects at home. Anytime students use different devices to create work sharing it can be problematic, but this is a good opportunity for students to work on their problem solving skills. Below are a few examples of how students chose to share their creations.

A few days back, Travis texted me from Dublin and said he had a student who could not figure out how to add a audio file to his blog and wanted to see if I could help. I told him to get the student and we could talk on the classroom hangout.  In about three minutes we had the audio file on his blog and he was a happy guy--had to change the tag from mp4a to mp3. 

It is truly awesome how we can reach beyond our classrooms to impact the development and learning of others at this point in history.  It has really changed the way I see a classroom and what impact we as teachers can have on students beyond our walls.
