How times change! How our student's are different today!

We all know the internet has impacted us all. From "googling" it, cell phones, streaming video, wikis, and on and on. I was looking over twitter today and saw the post to the left. Thought I would take a look and found this great infographic.

Great infographic! My only question is how skewed this information is due to the fact that many gen Y/gen Z kids are simply.. kids. For instance, if the same polls were given during the childhood years of gen X, I'm wondering how close the percentages for TV watching/video games would resemble those of genY/genZ...
That being said, it's undeniable that children today have a closer connection and relationship to tech. than those of previous generations.

Very interesting infographic! It's truly amazing how technology has changed over the years. Being a Generation Xer, I've been able to see these changes firsthand. I'm glad that I got to experience my childhood without the Internet and other technological conveniences, but I can't imagine my life now without modern technology.

What a cool info-graphic! It's great to see an infographic being used to educate teachers, instead of students like usual - plus, these are definitely all differences that teachers should be aware of!

I agree with Joshua Davis that a lot of this information is skewed, however, that is how almost ALL research is anyway. You cannot control for every variable. I found the statistic that shows 43% of millennials had read the newspaper in the last 24 hours. I was surprised there were ANY millennials that read the newspaper still.

I think that it is important to remember that todays kids are much different than even what I was. Myself and many other older students recall getting through school memorizing everything and just doing what we were told. To this day it seems as though many teachers approach teaching this way, however from my time spent with Garth it has become apparent that you may be amazed at what students will do if you give them the opportunity! I think these days kids thrive to be in control of their lives and the components within. Therefore it is important that students harness their own learning, the concepts stick and they remember the material. If asked now some of the things that I learned in my early years I could not answer.

I really like the graphics in this blog post, it really puts into perspective how each generation uses technology. It also makes you realize how our school system should adapt to the changing technological times.

I really like this visual tool. It is interesting to see the comparisons of the generations. Like Garth has said in class, we are still teaching in the past. I also think it is interesting that I will be part of the same generation as my students. Will this make teaching easier? Will this make incorporating technology easier? Only time will tell!
